The Jewish cemetery of Uzhgorod is the biggest one in the Transcarpathian region. Many famous people are buried here including the author of Code of Jewish Law “Kitzur Sulcha Oruch”, rabbi Shlomo Ganzfried and uncle of the famous Munkacher Rebe, rabbi Chaim Elozor Shpira.

In 2005 a total renovation of the cemetery has started. Today there is electricity, water-supply on the cemetery, accessory building stone pathways are built as well and the cemetery has a supervisor. Today weeding and cutting of old trees is performed.
