Four years have passed since the first issue of “Gut Shabes” monthly published by the rabbi of Uzhgorod and Trancsarpathian region Menachem Mendel Taichman. Since that time the newspaper became popular not only among the Jews of our region, but in other regions of Ukraine as well. One may find something interesting on its pages. News from our communities, keen topics of the month, time for Shabbos and Holiday candle lighting, recipes from rebetsen Haya Moussia Taichman and many other interesting matters are filling the pages of this newspaper.

Rabbi Taichman has published a book named “Point of View” based on articles of the “Gut Shabes” where difficult matters of Jewish law are expound in popular manner. The book is easy to read and gives easy and clear answers to questions related to Jewish way of life, philosophy and traditions. The book is structured according to the Jewish calendar that’s why it is a good gift to any prominent date, especially in Tishrey. The articles are arranged in order of Jewish months thus revealing the most important aspects of every month or holiday. Such form gives the reader the opportunity to find answers in time.
