The active synagogue of Uzhgorod if one of the fewest in the post-communist area, that was not closed even for a day during the WWII. We express our gratitude to the elder generation who kept the spark of Yiddishkeit which flamed up in fire with the arrival of rabbi Menachem Mendel Taichman. Today we have Minian every day and the synagogue was completely renovated. This cosy synagogue was built by rabbi Aaron Felberman. He was always present during the construction reading Tehillim constantly. Even today one can see the inscription on the wall made after the constarction was finished, it says: “With G-d’s aid built in the Name of G-d in the year 5691 (1931)”. |
