Modern youth attending Torah classes in Uzhgorod, where rabbi Menachem Mendel Taichman raises interesting topics of the weekly Torah chapters and explains difficult matters of the “Shilchan Oruch” in an easy-to-understand manner. They also learn the laws and traditions of Jewish holidays and notable days.
In Spring 2007 the STARS (Stodents’ Torah Association fro Russian Speaking) program started for Jewish youth aging from 18 to 28 years. Young people are getting acquainted with their heritage, some of them in their first encounter with Judaism. Weekly five hours include investigations in Jewish philosophy, Commandments, Torah classes, chapters of the Halacha (Jewish religious law) and prayers. Students receive their monthly scholarship for every 20-25 hours of studying. Lectures are given by rabbi Menachem Mendel Taichman and other teachers.
